§ We shall discuss ways of staying safe online.
§ We shall speak about blogs and blogging.
§ Our task today is to practice the usage of Conditionals and the vocabulary on the topic The Web and Communication as well.
3.       Речевая зарядка
Let’s do some revision. Are you an online student or not? Do you know how to be safe online?
Imagine I have very little experience in surfing the Net. Give me some advice about safety online. What type of conditional sentences do we use for giving advice?

Alternative task for students:
Make up sentences.
Example: Don’t share personal information.

What is wrong here? Possible answers (Sam shouldn’t give any information about himself and meet with the stranger. It might be a creepy guy or a pervert.)
Well, I believe all of you know how to stay safe online and now we can speak about what a blog is and how and why to create it.

Here is some information from Wikipedia
 A blog (from the term web log) is a type of website or part of a website. Blogs are usually written by people who make regular comments, describing events, or use other material such as graphics or video. Comments are displayed in reverse-chronological order. Blog can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
Most blogs are interactive. You can leave comments and even message each other. Blogs are interactive. It makes blogs different from websites.
There are many types of blogs such as online diaries, blogs about a particular subject, for example about music, sports fan’s blog. Typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages and other media about this topic

  • Could someone find me (in real life) based on this information?
  • Who is going to look at this, and how are they going to interpret my words?
  • Is this inappropriate, immature or bullying?
  • Could I hurt someone else’s feelings with this post?
  • Would I say this to the person’s face?
  • What could be the consequences of this post?
  • What will I cause by writing this post? Be culturally sensitive.
  • Would I want someone to say this to me?
  • Do I have a good reason/purpose to do this?
  • Is this something I want everyone to see?
