    Объявление цели урока:

    We have already discussed the topic "Countries and Continents". You know that there are a lot of countries in the world. Different people live in these countries. They speak different languages.You know English-speaking countries. What are they? Why are these countries called English-speaking? ( Учащиеся отвечают на данные вопросы.) You also learn English. That's why I think you must learn more facts about English-speaking countries, their geography, people, customs and traditions. Today we'll begin to talk about the land and the people of Great Britain. At home you read the text about it. What is the official name of Great Britain?

2. Фонетическая разминка.

a) Look at the blackboard. Listen to me, repeat after me; mind your intonation and pronunciation.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the official name of the country which is situated in the British Isles.

Данное предложение с интонационными разметками записано на доске. Постепенно стираются части предложения. В конечном итоге учащиеся говорят это предложение наизусть.

b) Do you remember the rule how to use the definite article with the proper names? The definite article is used with the names of seas, oceans, rivers, lakes and mountains. It is not used with the names of cities, towns, continents, countries.I'll tell you the proper names and you will show me a red card  if this name is used with the definite article and a green one if this name is not used with the definite article.
