 Конспект урока.

 

Тема: “ The trip to Scotland and to the country Do Did Done .”

 

Цели: обобщить начальные сведения о Шотландии и её достопримечательностях, автоматизировать употребление модальных глаголов can и must;

          развить у детей интерес к изучаемому языку и к изучаемой стране;

         воспитать у учащихся уважение к культуре и языку другой страны.            

Оборудование: учебник « Happy English .ru» ( Кауфман К. И. 5 кл. ), тест, мультимедиа проектор, компьютер.

 

Ход урока

1.     Организационный момент.

T. Good morning, children!

Ch. Good morning, teacher!

T. How are you?

Ch. Fine. Thank you. And you ?

T. I am fine. Thank you. Sit down, please.

 

     2. Сообщение темы урока.

-Dear children, today we check and summarize our knowledges about Scotland and modal verbs. So that’s why the theme of our lesson is the trip to Scotland and to the country Do Did Done.

-First of all, I would like you to revise the words. Let’s repeat all together:

England, Scotland, Edinburgh, Loch Ness, clan, tartan, kilt, MacWizard, the stone of Destiny, London, capital, magic stone, future, to go back, to believe, to fly, to speak, to touch, to travel.

( Дети повторяют за учителем.) -Thats OK. Let’s translate them.

 

3. -Now, let’s start. Children, tell me, please, what do you know about United Kingdom? Who wants to answer my question? Alyona, please.( She answers the question).

u Great Britain is the largest island of the British Isles. It is divided into four parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. England is the southern and central part of Great Britain. Scotland is in the north of the islands and Wales is in the west.  Northern Ireland  is situated in the north – eastern part of Ireland.

     Very good! Children, let’s visit Scotland and what can you tell about? Irina          answer my question, please!( Irina answers.)

Scotland is a country in the north of Great Britain. It is a part of the United Kingdom. Scotland is divided into their natural regions: the Southern Uplands, the Central Lowlands and the Highlands and islands. A lot of places in Scotland are a natural paradise, still untouched by man. The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh, well known for its castle.

-         So I think every country has the capital. And what is the capital of Scotland? (hands up) Arman, go to the blackboard and tell us about it.( telling)

-         The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh (470.000 inhabitants). It is one of the beautiful towns in Europe. Edinburgh is situated in bay Ferte-of-Forte. Former royal fortress (now museum) is in the center, on the high marble hill. There is an abbey and a palace of Scottish kings - Hollyrud. Good!

-Now tell me, would you like to visit other cities. – Yes, we would.

- Rasul, are you ready to tell us about Glasgow?(answers).

    Glasgow is a great Scottish city of about one million inhabitants. Glasgow is an important centre of Scottish culture.

-We continue our interesting trip and now I want you to answer : Has Scotland the emblem and flag? Marina, please, go to the blackboard (telling).

  Scotland is the second part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The territory is 78.000 sq. km. The population of Scotland is more 5, 3 mil. People who live in Scotland are called the Scottish or Scots. They speak Scots and English. The national emblem of Scotland is a thistle. The national flag is a blue field with white diagonal crossed stripes.  It is Saint Andrew’s Cross.

-I think that everybody likes to listen to scary stories. And what about you? ( Marina.).

u Scotland is also the land of myth and mysteries; every castle has its ghost. Glamis Castle is said to have nine of them.

-We know that a monster lives in the lake Loch Ness. Is it true? (Neila answers.)

  The first report of the monster in Loch Ness was in 565 A.D. Since 1934 thousands of people claimed to they had seen the monster.

- Children, tell us: what is the national costume? Sergei, please. ( telling)

   Scotland is well known to the world because of its traditional costume, the kilt. As you can see in the picture, the kilt is a short skirt worn as part of the dress of men. It was the dress of the old-time Highlanders. The kilt is also worn by women and children.

-         And now I would like to know about clan. (Baurzhan , Nastya answer).

-         A lot of Scottish family names start with “Mac” or “Mc”- like Mac Donald, Macmillan, or McHale. And “Jook’ is a popular Scottish name for John, or Jack.

-         Clan is a group of Scottish families, united by their relationship.

And this is the coast of arm of Scotland. Good.

 

4. At the end of the trip to Scotland I want to ask you some questions:

  1. What parts of Great Britain do you know?

  2. Where is Scotland situated?

  3. What is the capital of Scotland?

  4. What is the national emblem of Scotland?

  5. Who is Nessie?

  6. What is kilt?

  7. What is clan?

 

5. Now we start our trip to the country Do Did Done and I would like you to write the grammatical test on the modal verbs.

 

1.Образуйте отрицательные предложения.

 1) Nick can play computer games.

 2) My sister must go to the library.

 3) The girl can swim.

 4) My mother can ride a bicycle.

 5) He must do his homework.

 6) You must help your grandmother.

 

2. Составьте из этих слов предложения.

 3) They, can, TV, watch?

 4) Must, my sister, me, help.

 5) To you, listen, we, can?

 6) Ann, play, me, must, with.

 

3.Задайте вопросы к подчёркнутым словам.

 1) Kate must help her mother today.

 2) Her brother can play tennis.

 3) Our friends must write two letters to Santa Claus.

 4) My aunt can sing foreign songs.

 

6.Сейчас ответьте, пожалуйста, на мои вопросы.

 - Какие страны входят в Объединенное Королевство?

- Столица Шотландии?

- На каком языке говорят в Шотландии.

- Переведите глаголы can, must.
