T:Try to make your own word combinations or your sentences with these words.

II. Warming up.

T: It’s enough. Thank you. Now I want to drawn your attention to the blackboard where the quotation from John Clarke (a famous American writer) is written:

                                                                                                    “He that travels far knows much”

                                                                                                                                  John Clarke

Let’s try to prove that Clarke was really right. What do you think about this quotation?

How do you understand these words?

What’s your opinion?

Try to begin your sentences with the expressions:

  • I think…                                                                  - I want to add…
  • To my mind…                                                         - I agree with … and I want to add…
  • In my opinion…                                                      - I share your (her/ his) opinion…
  • \s \s It seems to me…                                                     - I support your idea (that)…

  • No doubt, that [daut]…(Без сомнения, что…)    - As far as I know …

If you don’t agree with somebody’s opinion you should say:

  • You are wrong (He is wrong).                                  – Sorry, I don’t know…
  • I disagree with you.                                                  – I don’t agree with …
  • Idifferfromyou. – (У меня другое мнение).        – I am not sure of it.
  • You are mistaken.                                                    – I couldn’t say. – (Янеуверн(а).
  • I don’t think so.                                                       – I am not of the same opinion.
  • It’s hard to say.                                                        – I object to it. – (Явозражаю).

P1. I think it’s true. Travelling develops our outlook.

P2. To my mind, if you visit different countries, you get acquainted with the lifestyle, traditions and customs of these countries.

P3.You mean we travel because of curiosity.

P4.No doubt that travelling develops our imagination.

P5.Naturally, travelling is exciting, because it means adventure, and adventure is necessary.

P6.I want to add, that travelling gives us knowledge.

P7.I share all opinions and want to add that travelling helps us to study foreign languages alive.

P8.In my opinion travelling is great and exciting. You can see a lot of sights.

P9.I support your idea. When I travel, I always try to take pictures of places of interest to enrich my album.

P10.I think that travelling can help us to change our life. For example, we choose the profession connected with travelling. (a stewardess [ֽ  stju:әdes], an interpreter).

P11. To my mind, when people start to travel, they want to investigate the word.

P12.For a lot of people, travelling is a job, they want to develop trade and economic relationships.

P13.  But I think that travelling helps us to get rid of stress and improve our spirit.

Let’s summarize everything you have said.

P.To sum up all statements I can say that Clark was right, because travelling is exciting and when you travel, you have a chance to develop your outlook (you learn more about thelifestyle, traditions and customs of visiting countries), you can visit new places of interest and meet different people and make friends with them. Travelling abroad helps us to study foreign languages and it distracts from our everyday life. For some people travelling is a job, they develop trade and economic relationships between the countries.

T:Thank you, … Travelling is really necessary for people. However, do you know what the most popular kind of travelling is?

P1. I think it’s a car.

P2.I think that the most popular kind of travelling is a train.

P3.It seems to me that it’s a plane.

P4.To my mind a ship is a popular kind of travelling too.

\s T:Well, your opinions divide into different points of view, but look at the chart from a magazine of travelling. You see that the most popular kind of travelling is a plane, but people choose cars, trains and ship also.

T: Tell me please, what kind of travelling do you prefer? (Let’s speak about ship, trains and cars. Later we’ll speak about travelling by plane). Who wants to share you opinion?

P1.As for me, I prefer travelling by car. We have a car (I mean my parents) and in summer we usually try to go somewhere to have a rest. Travelling by car is very convenient. It gives us freedom. When we travel we don’t think about tickets, we don’t carry our suitcases, we can stop wherever we wish. But, of course, I confess the fact, that nowadays it’s rather dangerous way of travelling because of multitude accidents on the roads. Besides, we should think about traffic jams and difficulty of getting about a car in the rush hours in big cities. But still I’m for travelling by car.

T:What about you, …?

P2.As for me, I prefer travelling by train. It’s not very expensive. I usually travel with my family, relatives or friends and we have a good time in a train. Besides, modern trains have got very comfortable seats and there are sleeping-cars and dining-cars which make even the longest journey enjoyable. And I think that it’s safer to travel by train than by car or by plain.

P3.I can say that a lot of people like travelling by ship. Of course, if they don’t have a seasickness. The decks of ships are usually large. So, people can play different games, swim in the swimming-pools. It is held a lot of different concerts and competitions during the voyage. When a ship stops in a port of a town people can go sightseeing there. And I can add that the main advantage of travelling by ship is that we can spend a lot of time in the open air. It’s useful for our health.

T: You know, that nowadays is very popular to spend holidays abroad. And it’s clear, we want to see a lot, we want to find out something new and there are a lot of other reasons of travelling. We have already spoken about it today. Some of you visited foreign countries too. Tell me please, what way of transport did you use?

(P1. When I travelled to Turkey we went there by plane.

P2.We went to Turkey by plane too.

P3.And our travelling to Egypt was by plane too).

T: Whydo people prefer to travel by plane than other ways of travelling?

P1.It’s the fastest and the most convenient way of travelling.

P2.People prefer it because they can visit many countries in a short time.

P3.It isn’t difficult to buy tickets for a plane nowadays. You can buy them through the Internet. It doesn’t take much time at all.

T: Butdo you know that travelling by plane, it isn’t only buying tickets and the speed of the flight. If you really want to have a nice trip, you should know the following of actions of travelling by plane, especially if you are going abroad. Today we’ll try to make a conclusion of your projects and find out some new facts about travelling by plane. T: The second group will tell us about the documents which a traveler should have for travelling by plane.

2.The documents which a traveler should have for travelling by plane.

We found the information about the documents, which should have a traveler, who travels by plane abroad. Every passenger should have: - a foreign passport;

  • a visa;
  • a ticket;
  • an invitation paper;
  • an insurance policy;
  • foreign currency;
  • a special label.
  • A foreign passport gives for five years and after that period, you should change it.
  •  A visa is a special mark in a passport that gives permission to enter or leave the country. It gives the embassy of the country where you are going to. You can’t enter the country without a visa. You mustn’t stay in the country longer than your visa allows, otherwise, you can run into problems with the police.
  • A ticket we can buy it at the airport beforehand. But nowadays, it’s very easy to buy tickets through the Internet.
  • If you were invited to the country, you should have an invitation paper. This paper means that the invited side is responsible for your staying in the country. It needs you to get through the passport control.
  • Also you should have an insurance policy. It’s a document in which a certain sum of money is pointed. It’s paid in case of an illness or an accident. If you have insurance, your insurance company pays for you.
  • Foreign currency is the necessary thing abroad. When you are abroad, you can’t buy anything with money from your own country. All goods must be paid for in foreign currency only. If you want to buy something, you should have some currency on you.
  • When you are registered in the check-in desk, you get a special label. It’s piece of paper, plastic, or any other material which appears on your luggage and has essential information about its owner (usually name and contacts, telephone and address). If you don’t want to get into troubles, make sure you have a label on your luggage. At the airport, your luggage can be lost or confused with somebody’s luggage. A label with your contacts can help you get it back).

 P: And now, answer our questions, please:
