Listen to the recording and decide whether the speaker prefers to live in a big city or in the country.

Frankly speaking, living in аbig city has its pros but it also has its cons. People's opinions of big cities are often divided. Some of the people who live in аbig city would give anything to have even аsmall piece of land in the country; others are completely content in their urban environment. I personally don't have аfirm opinion on the subject. Опthe one hand, living in аbig city is more comfortable, and there are cinemas, theatres, and museums for those who like culture. For shoppers and gourmets, there are choices опevery corner. And if that isn't enough, the schools and colleges are incomparable to those in small towns or villages. Once more, we сапchoose whatever we want to do. Тhis gives young реорlе, especially, opportunities which are normally out of reach in smaller communities. And it is usually easier to find аjob, even аwell paid job, in the city. 

Опthe other hand, реорlеin аbig city tend to bеfaceless. I suppose being faceless is sometimes good in some situations, especially where gossip is concerned. Тhere is usually а1ot of competition in аbig city as well, often referred to as the rat race. While this might hеlрреорlеto work hard, it sometimes goes too far. Тhere's also the pollution and the horrible noise. We сапusually find more criminals in аcity, not just robbers but also murderers. It stands to reason that the more реорlеthere are, the more chance there is for deviation.

1 think that 1 wouldn't bеable to live in аbig city mуwhole life, but there would bеsome good things about it for аshort time. In аtown like Winchester, where 1 соmеfrom, people always know something about уоu from their friends who know it from their friends, and think that the most important subject is what someone wore two weeks ago! 1 hate that part of living in аsmall рlасе. Perhaps the best solution for mеis to live just close enough to аbig city to not bеpart of the gossip of the towns.
